On Office Hours

OK, this is wild. Students at Harvard don't go to office hours?

Chambliss and Takacs' How College Works, published in 2014, initially seems an unlikely candidate for the term "quietly radical."

I'm feeling like a student again, but with a slightly better toolbox.

How does an intuitive notion about education, one with the power of clarity and simplicity, become a problem?

A good advisor listens and highlights possibilities. A student is encouraged to explore, and no field or topic is off the table.

Someone telling you "write a paragraph where you name and describe a piece of evidence for your argument" is not helping.

If you're not doing the work, you need to start looking at what everyone else is getting, what you don't have because of your choices.
